WebLysol disinfectant spray was used to "clean" our wooden bar. The spray left horrible white stains and damaged the wood. We attempted to use olive oil (didn't work) and wood wax paste (also didn't work) to fix it. Got the mahogany colored Restor-A-Finish and it worked like a charm! The bar now looks better than ever! Turpentine smells great but I wouldn't want to eat it. The method you suggest does work but needs quite a bit of effort to get the wax to soften enough to spread across the wood.
